Reflect on your brief encounter with LeGO Robotics.

What did you enjoy about the kits?

What did you learn?

What is your advice for what to do with these kits next year?

I enjoyed making the robots. I didnt learn anything from this.
It is very easy to programm these robots, and because I dont have a computer with the software on it. I cant do all the things that robots can. This would be a lot better if we all had the software. You should also assign us what to do with the robots.

The Robotics, I enjoy them. I like the i dea of the whole thing.
I learned how to put a robot together and program it. What else would somebody want from this that’s so cool. The thing is that we don’t have something to go off of; like a lesson plan or something. That would help because people are just doing whatever. Also if there was more parts to make more things.

I personally dint care much for building a robot. It is something that isnt that important to me, although I have to say that it was quite fun being comfused with the assembly of the parts. The kits are a good thing to do when you have a lot of time on your hands, but unfortuanatly that wasnt our case. One thing that I would say that I would have liked to is to have more time to explore the actuall programation of the robot. A good thing to do next year is simply let students explore.

I highly recommend the kits for next year. I learned how to program the robot on the computer and how to build one. I believe that next year there needs to be a goal so the students will have something to motivate them to work. This year we were given robots and just told follow a book. It was fun but after we built them it seemed we were done. However, I really enjoyed them.

The thing I enjoyed most about the Robotics kit was that it was LEGOS! It’s been awhile since I touched any Legos, and it was fun to play with these Robotics, mechanized legos.

I learned that the robotics had Bluetooth, which got me excited, but than after I researched some more, I found out you needed to have a $600 phone to control it. That was a downer.

After that, I took our robot apart and tried to make another model from the Lego website, but I got to a step where we needed like, 2-3 kits to make the whole robot.

My advice would be, just have fun with them. Look on the web for more models, maybe join up with a group and put your kits together to make something BIG!

I think the Lego Robitics were pretty fun. It was cool to put them together and to see the capabilities of their parts.

I didn’t really learn much in this activity. The robots are easy to program; no real skill is required.

For next year, my advice would be to make a goal for students to work towards. Maybe something like an obstacle course the the robot needs to complete using it’s different parts.

I thought it was fun making the robots. All I learned was how to make better legos. I thought the kits were cool because they had spot to put the parts so they woulnd’t go everywhere. To the kids next year i would say have fun i guess and try and build a clock!

These robots are very entertaining. Not so challenging though. It would be nice to have extra parts so that we could build more advanced robots. I learned how to program a lego robot I’ve never done that before. In the future it would be nice to have more computers with the programming software on it and more time to play with them.

I have enjoyed building these robots. It was interesting building the components, because you can see the structure of every piece. When you program it, you can see why it is built the way it is built. I learned how the structure works. I think it would cool if there is a huge robot we can build with either one or multiple kits.

I thought making the LEGO Robotics was fun. I loved playing with LEGOs as a child so it was different compared to the LEGOs I grew up on. The kits itself were a good idea because we had no lesson plan, we just assembled them and changed the sensors when needed. For the students next year I think they should create something such as the LEGO robot with human characteristic as shown on the website.

I highly recommend it for next year. I believe there should be a goal next year so it will motivate the students. This year after I finished following instruction in the booklet it seemed like there was nothing else to do. However, I really enjoyed the kits this year.

I found the LEGO Robotics unit was very interesting when it came down to the raw programming of it all. The fact that I actually enjoy messing with legos helped, but being able to command and program whatever you wanted to build was really great. Obviously it didn’t appeal to everyone, but I don’t pay attention to those haters. Anyways, I thought it was a good learning experience and was nice to apply programming to something you can see outside of a computer screen.

I enjoyed the Lego kits a lot because i used to play with legos when I was younger. These legos are pretty advanced and fun to learn. I learned that the mindstorm kits can be made to do many things and is relatively simple to set up. I think that next year a good thing to do with the kits is create a list of things that the robots can do or should attempt to create with all the different sensors.

This assignment was ok. The best part about it was building the robot. On the other hand the programming part was confusing. One because the program was very new to me and also I think having partners was a kind of helped but maybe there should be more to it. Make so both are participating in the assignment other then just one person doing everything. Other than that it was ok.

The Lego kids were a very entertaining escape from the world of normal programming. It reminded me of when I had a similar (but much more similar) Lego robot kit from when I was younger. I liked it and would recommend doing it in the future.

The downside about it is I didn’t exactly learn as much about them as I would have liked, since we only got to spend a little bit of time in the program itself. In the years to come I think there should be a lot less time spent on building the robots (a day at the most) and more time trying to figure out the program and making it do various things.

I really enjoyed making a robot with legos. It was very interesting to see them move just by programming them. I never really played with legos before. That’s why it was such a good learming experience for me. These robots should be used for next year so students will have a better insight on programming. Building a robot also taught me to be patient with anything I make.

Programming a robot is very much like teaching a student. Sometimes it can be difficult, but it can also be fun. Either way, when you’re done with it and you see all the little things it can do, you feel proud inside. except not very many teachers put their students together with their own two hands.
Overall, Its fun and intuitive with many alternative combinations of actions that leaves a satisfying device to come back to.

When i was a child I made things out of legos all the time, sometimes I even ate them. So for me to be given this opportunity again was quite memorable. However this time around the legos were computerized and much more interesting. I was pretty stoked when I found a super cool clock tutorial online. Unfortunately the sets we had to work with didn’t come equipped with a piece that was vital to the completion of this computerized clock. However, this was still a super awesome unit. I highly recommend this unit for next year’s calender and maybe by then we could purchase a few extra parts to further our experience in lego robotics. =)

I played with legos all the time when I was a kid, and still do when I visit my grandparents to babysit cousins. Really fun, I enjoyed it and it was a really good introduction to this class.
